Collection: Vintage Horror

THIS CELLULOID DREAM – A VINTAGE HORROR COLLECTION //

The horror film genre has always been a way for society to explore our deepest fears, ethical dilemmas, and identities. This collection celebrates the early years of horror cinema, from the pre-code films that pushed social boundaries to Gothic literature adaptations of the 1910’s touching on corruption and the shortcomings of humans, to 1920’s German Expressionism with its surreal & theatrical sets. We see the rise of tragic monster archetypes in the 1930’s that would come to define the genre, as well as the beginnings of themes around scientific exploration and fears of the unknown. A century later, these themes still resonate; I invite you to immerse yourself in this tactile and sensory exploration of film history.
